Prima dell'industrializzazione le sue acque erano pulite : raccontano che si poteva fare il bagno e che ci fossero anche pesci. All'epoca degli scarichi industriali senza controlli, l'Arno aveva un colore nero, puzzava tremendamente e straripava spesso. Adesso sembra un torrente vero.
L'area peggiore era quella dell'ansa coperta dalla costruzione dell'ex-Cotonificio, che spesso non riusciva a trattenere le acque. Si ricordano le esondazioni del 1951, 1992 e l'ingrossamento del 2014.

Before industrialization its waters were clean : people tell that bathing was common and fishes were to be found. During the period of uncontrolled industrial drains, the Arno Creek was colored black,smelled awful with frequent overflows.
Nowadays it looks almost like a real Creek.
The worst area was around the bend covered by the construction of the the former Bellora Cotton which wasn't often capable of controlling the waters.
The floods of 1951 and 1992 are well remembered as well the near flood of 2014.
